How to Make Siri Call You with a Different Name

Siri, came out to be the best thing about the iPhone, which Apple released first in iPhone 4S and iOS 5.0 in 2011. Over time, Siri has become better equipped with information and knowledge. It acts as an intelligent personal virtual assistant to help its owner in completing or executing a task. The developers worked hard to bring out changes and made Siri so useful that if you ask anything to it, Siri will be able to churn out a response. It can tell you almost everything; it can even call you by your name.

The iPhone owners may want to change what Siri calls them and this is where the problem begins. Since Siri calls you by the information stored in the contact card by your name, you can change the details and Siri will call you with a new name next time.

BEFORE ANYTHING, SELECT YOUR LANGUAGE AS SIRI CAN UNDERSTAND MULTIPLE LANGUAGES.

  • Open Settings of your iPhone and go to General.
  • Select Siri and tap Language.
  • Select a language.

HOW TO MAKE SIRI CALL YOU WITH A DIFFERENT NAME

  • Tap Contacts from your home screen
  • Search your name and select the contact card
  • Tap Edit to make changes in the contact information
  • Type the name
  • Siri will call you with the name you type now
  • Tap Done
  • Go back to Settings main menu
  • Open General
  • Select Siri and tap My Info
  • My Info should have the same contact card in which you made changes.
  • Tap the contact card to connect it with Siri.
  • Tap and hold the Home button. It will open the Siri app.
  • Say Siri, call me “X.” X could be any name you want Siri to call.
In case, Siri is finding a problem in calling you the name of your choice, it might happen due to wrong pronunciation. To correct the issue, go to the contact cards and try to edit the name again. Now select Add Field and choose Phonetic First Name. This time, your device will ask you to pronounce the name phonetically. Siri will only spell the first name saved in the information of your contact card. Remember that the spelling and the pronunciation must be correct and precise so that Siri can understand the name and further, call you with your desired name.
