Steps to Quick Access Start Menu Folder

In the Start menu folder, you can organize all list apps of the Start menu. If you want to add or do any change in the Start menu, then you have to open Windows Start menu folder. There are two separate locations Windows had build for start menu folder, one is for all users that contain system shortcuts, and folders that appear on the Start menu of all users are logged in, and the other is for currently logged in user that includes shortcuts and folder displayed only for the currently logged in user. Items from both two folders are combined and shown on your Start menu.

If you want to do any change, organize, add or want to see your Start menu folder, you can open it directly by using these easy methods to access your personal and system start menu folder.

How to open your personal Start Menu folder or currently logged in user?

  1. Press ‘Windows key + E’. This will open the computer or my computer folder.
  2. Press ‘Alt + D’ to focus on the address bar.
  3. Now, Enter or copy & paste this path “%appdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu” in the address bar.
  4. Press ‘Enter’ key.
Start menu folder of currently logged in user is on your screen.

How to open the Start Menu folder for all users?

  1. Press ‘Windows key + R’. This will open the Run dialog. You can also use: click on ‘Start button’>Type ‘Run’ on the search box>Press ‘Enter.’
  2. Now, enter or copy & paste this path “C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu” in the open address bar.
  3. Click ‘Ok’ or press ‘Enter.’
You will find Start menu folder immediately.

How to access Start Menu folder of another user account in your PC

If you are looking to organize the personal start folder of a different user account of your Pc with the user account, you have logged in.
  1. Press ‘Windows key + E’. This will open the computer or my computer folder.
  2. Press ‘Alt + D’ to focus on the address bar.
  3. Now, enter or copy & paste this path “C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu” in the address bar.
NOTE: in the above path in place of USERNAME enter the name of the user account you want to access Start menu folder.
  1. Press ‘Enter’ key.
